On a hot summer day in 2022, Hyo-Jung, who came to the Women’s Hope Center, was terrified of a future that she could not handle alone, carrying a new life growing within her. While her friends were dreaming about their futures, Hyo-Jung made the bold decision to welcome and care for her baby. The Hope Center promised Hyo-Jung they would help her become a reliable mother.
Hyo-Jung courageously took on the phenomenal and frightening process of giving birth and breastfeeding with great success. The Hope Center has enthusiastically supported this young mother and prioritized their attachment to her baby. Hyo-Jung prepared her child’s 100-day celebration meal with her own hands and expressed her gratitude to the WHC teachers and volunteers.
However, Hyo-Jung feared the future. She broke down in tears one day as she read the words, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. (Matthew 6:34 NIV).” God had beautiful plans for Hyo-Jung. A professor volunteered to teach our mothers nail art. Luckily, Hyo-Jung had majored in that field, so it was the best opportunity to prepare for her future.
Hyo-Jung was able to complete her studies, which she’d had to stop, and she devoted herself to her vocational training while her baby attended daycare. She also faithfully received financial counseling from the center, saved a large portion of the state subsidies, and finally achieved her desired residential independence. Hyo-Jung has now completed her vocational training and is confidently working to support herself and her baby.
The center organized an event to celebrate Hyo-Jung’s achievements of giving birth, raising a child, and becoming self-reliant, and to express gratitude to all who supported her family’s journey to independence. How could a young mother take her first step in the world without the help of her supporters and the service of volunteers like you? It was possible because God tied you and us to the ministry of protecting the lives of babies and supporting women in crisis so that we can become guardians and caregivers of this family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Hyo-Jung is still young and her child is still growing. We leave this family to God, who will lead us to the best path, and we will continue to support them long-term. We ask for your continued prayers and interest in the center and our mothers.
